The Founder of the Monoposto Racing Club, Frank Tiedeman, passed away last year. The Tiedeman Trophy Series aims to provide Monoposto competitors with more low-cost racing opportunities in addition to the Club’s very popular championship, the St. Cross Electronics Mono Championship. Frank's widow, Sue Tiedeman, and his son Joe are very supportive of the Tiedeman Trophy and we hope that they will again attend one or other of the events to present the Monoposto Race Awards.

The Circuits

Snetterton and Castle Combe have long been Mono favourites. We were lucky to receive the following email from Pete Stowe, Archivist & Historian to Castle Combe Circuit.

" I’ve just been updating Castle Combe lap record data ahead of the new season, and happily see that what we have ties up with your data on the MRC website.

With the Tiedeman Trophy appearing here this year I’ve also had a look back into some history, which may be of interest. I believe that Frank’s first ever race win was at Castle Combe 3rd May 1952 when he won the 750 Formula sports car race in his Austin 7 Ulster (DV9602).

Also, it was 50 years ago when the first race to include Monoposto Formula racing cars was held here, on 18 July 1964. This was a combined race with 750MC 1172 Formula sports cars, and the first Monoposto was B Mitcham (Embryo Monoposto). Among those on the entry list was Frank Tiedeman in a Deep Sanderson, as a reserve, although I’ve no results sheet from that meeting to confirm if he actually started. The first race solely for Monopostos was then the following year (3 July 1965) won by Roy Lee (1498cc Terrier LRM).

So it seems very appropriate for MRC to be running the Tiedeman Trophy here this year."
