Cadwell Park 19
April 2015 Round 2
Since this report's a bit late and the seat of a 1600 is less than ideal to report a Moto race from, it will be brief.
In broad terns the grid was a mildly reshuffled version of Saturdays with a few doing a little better at the expense of others. The main vicitms of woe were Kyle Cutts who stopped just after Mansfield after 3 laps and Tony Cotton (me) who was overoptimistic at Coppice and destroyed his nose, fortunately with no other damage. By following the advice here I collected the bits and using Paddock Composite (tank tape, cardboard and pop rivets) had a usable nose for the race. Jeremy Timms broke a chain in the Dallara but fortunately it was fixed.
If the secret of great comedy is timing, the weather was definitely "having a laugh". Almost at the instant the start engines signal was given it started spotting and got a bit worse on the warm up lap. So we were all on slicks and were very careful indeed. In fact there were few changes of place at the front resulting in the result looking much like the grid. Geoff Fern made up 4 places to finish 10th, David Wild 3 places to finish 7th and Robert Tusting 3 to finsh . The only major drops in the order were Tony Gauntlett, 9th to 13th but I think I'm right in saying he's had a bit less practice on slicks in the wet than a lot of the grid and (surprising to me) Graham Read, 6th to 12th.At the back of the race, Len Turner made a late surge and managed to pass both Eddie Guest and Tony Cotton on the last lap.
